For my own reference, I'm making a little masterpost/directory of all the Perceptor/Grimlock fics and art that I've been able to find. This is, I think, my rarest of rarepairs, in that only myself and two (maybe three) other people seem to ship it, and even then, it's mostly as a crack ship.

Some of these are explicit, so they'll be going under a cut:

Onward! )

I feel like every time I get serious about drawing again, I need to train myself from the ground up because I've forgotten literally everything to do with art...

That being said! I'd love to do a comic for the December issue of SSBB, so I've been designing characters for that.

Here's a scribble of Yukita, the real identity of a VKei onnagata (shhhh):

Why does the image say Hideki? That is because I forgot his name and checked my notes after scribbling it down oops. Do not love his hair, and I need to practice drawing hair a bit more.

Finally got my PC built and running. Windows 11 is a joke, btw, but now I can do art on my PC!

My story for SSBB was posted here:  www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/iterum/

I'm about.... 76% happy with it. The story I originally wanted to write got away from me and was about 2/3rds finished by the time I hit the upper word limit. But! I've got a plan and I've been doing research about planning word counts, so hopefully this time around I'll publish what I meant to publish. It's Sci-Fi, and while I normally prefer fantasy, I've been having that itch to describe tech.

Cheers!

Done!

My submission for SSBB is finished! Now to make some art…
biofreak659: (Default)
Drawing various things, coming up with character designs for Nanowrimo, etc. I was busy the last couple of weeks sewing a tunic for a friend, only to realize that the sleeves were too long… a bit bummed about that, and I didn’t get much art done as a result.

Oh well!

Got some good progress done on my submission for SSBB. 12477 words as of posting this! The two mains still have not met! The love interest has not even been introduced!

Huge sections are definitely going to be removed and edited for length (my characters sometimes start talking and get away from me…), but I am worrying  little about that upper word limit…

I have been struck by inspiration!

I normally prefer fantasy, but the ole Transformers itch is rearing its head, so I’m going to write some SciFi… about knights in space, but its something. I really want to make like a 2010 era Tumblr ask blog, but until then (and until I actually get around to writing…), have some moodboards!

Here is Loheran’s:

and Godfrey’s:

I know that SSBB is supposed to be original fiction, and this definitely is, but props and kudos to anyone who can guess what this is inspired by.

Shanoa stood on the train platform and wrinkled her nose at the smell of the smoke and smog. Cluj-Napoca was the biggest city she'd ever visited. There were so many people and horses, more than she’d ever imagined could have even existed in one place.

A dozen of them stood in the clearing—farmers aged before their time by hardship and long hours in the sun. Only two of them had guns; the rest carried pitchforks and shovels. Albus stifled a giggle: it had all the makings of some stereotypical mob.

Working on my entry for SSBB, and I wanted to get down the look of some of the characters. Here’s Daniel, one of the mains. You can see his full name there in the upper right: Sebastiaen Mailliaerdt Daniel Tertius. Very horrible and long, I know. The first name is his father’s family, the second his mother’s family, the third his personal name, and the final is his order of succession to the throne. As you can see, he’s the third son. Throne of what country, you may ask? No clue! I haven’t come up with a name for it yet. You can see I’ve got a lot of work to do….

And in black and white because I was happy with how the shading looked. This is the first time I’ve used screentone in Ibis and I quite like it.

I’ve come up with a tentative working title: Dominion. It’s not BDSM, I swear, but after the Sisters of Mercy song.

Finally finished my Whumpuary prompts from 2024… better late than never?

Wolffe Whump ahoy! )

That aside, I got this awful ad for some writing contest that was looking for ‘spicy romantasy enemies to lovers’ and it pissed me off so much that I finally got back to writing my original fiction. I’m thinking that I’d love to write a spite story (“my writing is better than this YA trash” as one does), and I might submit it for Shousetsu Bangg Bang. I’ll need to get better at writing smut first though…

While I often do medieval/renaissance reenactment, I’ve never dipped my toes into anything later than, say 1490. I was replaying Bloodborne (alas… still no remaster), and wanted to try my hand at making some of the trick weapons. While I can, and have, made servo-and-microcontroller animatronics, I’ve never done anything mechanical.

So, to go with my Quickshot and Threaded Cane, I wanted to make a cosplay. Because I’m neurotic, I like to have my cosplay based in reality—concept art and in-game models can only show you so much. Beyond that, historical references are useful for the structure and etc. I’d never had much of an interest in Victorian clothing, but, man, something sparked in me.

Anyways, the long a the short is that I’m working on a late Victorian (1890s) blouse, skirt, jacket, and underpinnings! The buttons for my skirt actually just arrived (thank you USPS for a truly timely delivery!), so I ought to be able to finish up my skirt soon.

Corsetry is definitely daunting, but I’ve got a few good books (Corsets by Jill Salen and The Victorian Dressmaker, which was a Christmas present for myself) and I’m thinking about patterns (I’ve been told that Truly Victorian is good?).

I actually live fairly close to Harper’s Ferry, which was a major historic site in the American Civil War and also a pretty big location prior to the flood of 1896. It could be quite fun to wear historic clothing in an actual historic site. I only mourn the loss of late 1800s buildings on the East coast during the highway expansions in the 1950s.

Alas.

Anyways! Many projects to be had!

It’s 2025!

Yay!

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but man is Elden Ring making Fromsoft click for me. I’m sure its the ability to jump lol.

One of my best friends in college was a huge Dark Souls fan, and I tried to play it on PC, which sucked, and then I tried again to play on my Switch, and just didn’t get it. I tried Bloodborne after that, and could not figure out how to get weapons (yes yes, git gud).

I finally started up Elden Ring about three months before the release of the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, and I finally get it. Great game, and I’m giving Bloodborne a chance now. Wish it had a jump button though.

Regardless, fanart!

I actually started this a week or so before Macoto Takahashi’s death was announced. He was an icon of shoujo, and its sad to see the old guard passing away.

Friday the 13th! Spooky!

Anyways, here’s the last of the OC Art Fight from my Castlevania Discord.

It’s been, uh, 3000 years again, hasn’t it?

Whoops.

Been working on a bunch of stuff: fic, art, cosplay, etc. Have been running a fun little Art Fight in a discord server—functionally operates the same as normal art fight, but without the thousands of furries whoops.

Anyways, it was Castlevania OCs, and ends on the 10th.

I’m not a OC girlie, so I had to scramble to come up with a character to use. Landed on a mad scientist, because of course I did.

Anyways, here is all the art I did.

Art under here )

Mildly NSFW )Anyways, Whumpuary is coming up, and I plan on participating in that, mostly about Godrick from Elden Ring. I didn’t manage to ever finish last year, so my goal this year is to actually complete the challenge.
